Skate park

As you can see from the first photo, the children of Lytham used skate on the streets which annoyed many locals. Alternatively their parents had to track to Blackpool or Preston and pay for indoor facilities and this was costing them a fortune. If the kids don’t have a local facility they will skate wherever they can, they may not have enough time to travel out of town to skate.
We had to look at the children’s recreational needs because it is apparent that traditional play facilities are no longer enough. We have to listen to the young people and provide what they want. The young people knew exactly what was out there in other areas, they have done their homework and we wanted to provide them with the very best design.

We have provided a comprehensive range of equipment to serve the needs of a variety of users, based upon consultation with them. This equipment for skaters, bladers and bikers is a mixture of street plaza and ramps, each one bespoke to allow for space and free flow.

The skate park, BMX track and MUGA are all signs of a fully inclusive park. The skate park was funded by a successful lottery bid.
We would like to thank the team from the Y.P.S for organising the spray can art on the skate park, it has certainly brightened the place up!!
