Football Pitches

The playing fields have often been waterlogged in recent years due to the failure of the existing drainage system, which had not been replaced since the 1960′s. The installation of a new and technically excellent drainage system has brought the fields back to life. This was thanks to an £66,000 grant from the Football Foundation, and £84,000 from Fylde Borough Council, a total of £150,000. Fylde Borough Council ‘s contribution came primarily from money paid to the council by United Utilities as compensation for using a small part of the field to install a pumping station and underground water storage tank.

One senior and three junior pitches are have now been re-instated. This has been eagerly awaited by Lytham Academy based right next to the playing fields. Lytham Academy provides training for kids on Saturdays and is the base for several junior boys teams along with a girls’ team and an adult open age team. With their newly-renovated premises, and the four new pitches, together we can ensure that ‘Football’s Coming Home‘ to Lytham.
