Lytham 2012 Logo Competition

PV4U Trustee’s Anne and Heather with Colin from the LSA Road Runners, replicating the 3 themes

Park View 4U joined forces with Lytham Club Day and the LSA Express to launch an exciting competition, open to all young people in Lytham.

The aim of the competition was to design a logo for Lytham 2012, which would then be used on banners for Park View and bunting in the town during the summer. The winning logo had to combine the 3 main events of the Lytham 2012 Calendar:-

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and The Open Golf, and use them to depict a logo .

The project has been funded through Lancashire County Council’s Open for All scheme, in partnership with Fylde Local Strategic Partnership.

Funding will also pay for new bunting for Lytham Club Day, which will stay up for the whole summer.

Cath Powell Community Development Manager explains “2012 will be a vintage year for Lytham, one that the children will remember for the rest of their lives, so we want them to play a big part in it. We literally have our own summer festival in Lytham 2012 with all the events planned so far, and we are planning some exciting projects at Park View, this project will not only help Lytham to look good for the festivities, but it involves the local community and in particular the young people.”

The competition was open to any young person 4 – 18 who either lives in Lytham or attends a Lytham School.

And the winner is….

14 year old Katy Gittins from Lytham St.Anne’s High School.

The competition saw a huge number of entries The judges had a very difficult task, the standard of entries was extremely high, but in the end there could only be one winner and Katy’s design had all the right elements, it was simple but eye catching

As well as seeing her design gracing the streets of Lytham Katy will also receive the Wallbank Trophy on Club Day in Lowther Gardens.

Keep a look out for the new bunting and lamp post banners

Well Done Katy
