Big Garden Bird watch

Park View 4U  are taking part in the Big Garden Watch this Saturday, we have joined forces with the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside, who run a wildlife watch club from the park on the last Saturday of every month. The club is aimed at children age 8 – 13 but younger children can attend with their parents.

The Big Garden Birdwatch runs for 2 weeks starting from January 16th. Children and adults need to spend an hour looking at birds in their garden, school grounds or park and make a note of what they see.  They can then enter this information on the RSPB website which has been collecting these figures for 30 years.  It helps them spot
trends of declining and increasing bird species across the UK.
The watch club activities will take place from 10 -12am, Saturday 28th January. At Park View Playing Fields, Lytham. Suitable clothing is essential
Julie Norman Watch Club manager explained “We can supply some binoculars if children or families wish to join in or you can bring your own. We will also be making pine cone bird feeders to take home as it is vital to feed the birds at this time of year, especially with the recent cold weather”

Recycling your Christmas Trees

Thanks to all those households who recycled their Christmas Trees, we now have a new mulched aromatic path through Wishing Well Wood.

What’s Your Park View?

We are delighted to announce the winner of our recent Photo Competition entitled What’s your Park View.

The competition was judged by professional Lytham Photographer Heater Nelson, who runs her own business Imageree Photography and is also the latest trustee to join our group.

The winning photograph was taken by 17 year old Seb Postings from Lytham, who is a regular visitor to Park View. A selection of photographs from the competition will form the first exhibition to be staged in the new Community Centre at Park View when it opens in the spring.

The high standard of the entries made judging difficult but Heather explained “”I knew when I saw the winning image it was from someone with a good eye for composition.  Not only was beautifully composed but the photographer obviously had a creative edge.  After meeting Seb a few weeks later, I realised I was right.”

Seb’s prize includes accompanying Heather on a photo shoot as well as having his very own exhibition in the new centre.

Budding photographer Seb explained “It feels great to win the competition, especially as I have been working with riders from the park to achieve a certain result in photographs. I am delighted to get my very own exhibition.”

In 2nd Place was Dawn Mander

3rd Place Tom Hobson

You can see all the winning entries when the new centre opens
